Any Opposition?

Numbers 13:30-31 – And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Many Christians are just like the Israelites. They are redeemed out of Egypt by the blood of the Lamb, only to sample the fruits of Canaan, never to dwell there. They stop because they think the opposition is too strong.

We will not deny the fact of opposition. The “people be strong…and the cities are walled” (vs. 28) but our God is greater and stronger than any opposition. The fact of opposition should encourage you because it shows that you are doing something right! If the word and Satan didn’t oppose you it would show that you were on their side (see 1 John 3:13)!

The enemy will intimidate you with the fear of opposition, but “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7). A young boy who was afraid to go up into the loft of his cabin to sleep lest he should see a ghost was told “there are no ghosts.” His answer was, “I’m not afraid of the ghosts that are, but of the ghosts that ain’t.”

Some will fail because of opposition. Calvin Coolidge said, “Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful individuals with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” You don’t have to quit! You don’t have to fail! Quitters never win and winners never quit!

Yes there will be opposition, but be faithful! The Lord can make roads out of those walls if you will stay with it!
