Cancelling Services

Calvary Baptist Church Family & Friends,

After prayer and counsel, we have decided to cancel church services until further notice. We are living in unstable times and feel it best to follow the guidelines set forth by our country’s leaders (1 Peter 2:13). If you would like to access messages online you can do so at our website or our location on Sermon Audio at With the Sermon Audio app there is the capability to broadcast the messages to your television set as well. We do not currently have a live stream service, but we do now have video recording, and will also be posting new messages as the Lord leads.

If you would like to continue to support the church and its ministries, please do so. We are working on an online giving option that should be up and running in a week or so, but there will be a percentage fee with each transaction. You can always mail your offerings to Calvary Baptist Church at PO Box 248 Monticello, Florida, 32345.

It certainly is a time for prayer. Let’s pray for the unsaved. As bad as Covid-19 is, the sin virus has a 100% hell-rate for the lost. Let’s pray for those without Christ who are living in panic and fear. If the Lord gives you an opportunity, share the peace of Jesus Christ with them. Let’s pray for our community leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-2) as they work with governmental authorities to combat the spread of this virus. Let’s “pray one for another” (James 5:16). And, while we are practicing “social distancing”, let’s still check on one another and “exhort one another” (Hebrews 3:13) as the Lord guides us through these uncharted waters. We will be contacting our seniors by phone who do not have internet access or texting capabilities.

So, let’s not allow the panic to overtake us. Be prepared; but be in prayer. I would suggest that you use any extra time off from work to get closer to the Lord. Now would be a great time to start those family devotions or get caught up on your Bible reading. The Lord has a way of using bad things for good purposes (see the life of Joseph – Genesis 50:20). And, when all of this is over, and we are able to assembly again in person, our time together will be that much more precious.

Lord willing, as soon as things are safe again, we will resume our regular scheduled services. Until then, please listen in online, and keep in touch with us, and in prayer to the Lord.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email, text, or call me. I will be sending out additional emails and texts in the days and weeks ahead.

Your Pastor,

Bro. David Walker
