It’s High Time!

by

Rom 13:11 – And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

We are living in some crazy times. Someone pointed out the difference in prosperity, a recession, and a depression like this: During prosperity you are annoyed when you’re cat won’t eat the expensive canned food you bought. In a recession you are delighted he doesn’t eat it. And in a depression you hungrily and thoughtfully look at the cat.

We are living in the “last days” (1 Tim. 4), otherwise called “perilous times” (2 Tim. 3). Truly “our salvation is nearer” in the sense that we are closer to seeing the Lord Jesus return to get us.

It is high time to wake up. Time is ticking and so many Christians are slumbering and sleeping. You need to be stirred up, and woken up. The longer you sleep and aren’t aware of the spiritual battle that rages around you, the more complacent and indifferent you will become. Wake up and cast those covers of sin, selfishness, and slothfulness off you!

It is high time to walk right (vs. 13). We are to walk “honestly” as a Christian. You better watch where you walk, and how you walk. Your testimony does matter! The outward sins of “rioting and drunkenness” or the inward sins of “strife and envying” have no place with the Christian.

Finally, it is high time to wear right clothes. You should wear the protective clothing (the “armour of light” – vs. 12), which is detailed in Ephesians 6. You should also wear the person of Christ Himself (vs. 14). Don’t start any day without putting off sin, and putting on the Saviour. “Wear Him” all day long.

The sands of time are sinking. The hourglass is becoming empty. Clocks are running down. Very soon now, you are going to be standing in front of Jesus. Are you ready! It’s high time!
