Youth and Children’s Ministries
Nursery is available for all services (up to three years old). Our nursery is clean, safe, and staffed by caring people. Mothers will be given a pager so they can easily be contacted if there is a need.
Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m. and is an excellent place for kids to learn the Bible. Our teachers teach from the Bible with relevant applications for each age group.
Our youth leaders strive to encourage teens in the ways of the Lord with biblical lessons, practical instruction, and regular youth activities throughout the year. Vacation Bible School (ages 3-12) and Youth Camp each summer (ages 10 and up) is always a time of spiritual renewal.
What Are The Services Like?
Our services follow a more conservative, traditional format. Hymns are sung out of the hymnbook and the King James Bible is the only textbook for our faith. Occasional “Amens” are heard during both the singing and the preaching, and the spirit is one of liberty, not legalism. We do not pressure anyone to give a certain amount, dress a certain way, or be someone they are not.
What Kind Of Church Is Calvary?
We are a Baptist Church, which means we hold to the basic Baptist doctrine. We are not charismatic. We do not practice speaking in tongues, faith healing, or believe in extra biblical revelation through visions or dreams.
We are a Bible-believing Baptist Church which means we believe the scriptures are without error and that God has preserved a copy for us that is inspired and infallible. We believe these “holy scriptures” have been preserved in the English Authorized King James Version. See the article by Pastor Walker concerning this subject: Which Version of the Bible should Christians use?
We are an Independent Baptist Church which means we are not affiliated or controlled by any denominational head or church hierarchy. We choose our own missionaries we will support as well as our church leadership. Our pastor, David Walker and his wife Christi have been at Calvary since June of 2004.
