You and the Holy Ghost

1 Corinthians 6:17 – But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

“Thin skinned!” Everyone is so sensitive, or should I say “sinsitive?” You have to be careful what you say because it might offend some race, some religion, or some “reason.” People are so sensitive toward everyone except God the Holy Ghost! It doesn’t bother them that their sin bothers God.

The reality of the Holy Ghost is apparent. After the resurrection of Christ, He was sent to convict and convince of sin and the Saviour (John 15:26; 16:8), to connect with the believer’s spirit (1 Cor. 6:17), and to comfort him during sorrow (John 14:16-18).

But the refusal of the Holy Ghost is equally apparent, first of all with the unsaved. They “resist” (Acts 7:51) the conviction of the Holy Spirit regarding salvation and the person of Christ. And while believers have received the Holy Spirit, they can still refuse him in rebellion and stubbornness. We are told to “grieve not” (Eph. 4:30), and “quench not” (1 Thess. 5:19) the Spirit.

We should respond to the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Holy Ghost wants to led us (Rom. 8:14), fill us (Eph. 5:18), empower us (Acts 1:8), instruct us (1 Cor. 2:13), and renew us (2 Cor. 4:16), but He can’t if we refuse to let Him. A.W. Tozer rightly stated, “We have been snared in the oils of a spurious logic which insists that if we have found Him, we need no more seek Him.” Many Christians are content with “hell insurance” and nothing more. They don’t listen to God, look for God, or try to learn from God the Holy Ghost. They are insensitive to His instruction, rebuke, direction, and leading.

God the Holy Ghost is real. He is inside of you if you are saved, and He wants to lead you and fellowship with you. Repent, return, and be refreshed by the Spirit of God!
